"We must become the change we want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi
Each month, Wolfies chooses and organization or cause to raise funds for and bring awareness to by holding drives or fundraisers. We feel that it is important to give back to the community that has given so much to us.
October 2015: Higher Education and Urban Schools
In October, Wolfies wants to raise awareness about higher education by sending 130 students from Longfellow Elementary on a college tour of the University of Texas at Austin and a tour of the state capitol.
For September, we are focused on safety! Wolfies will be partnering with American Red Cross, and Ms Jackie (our on-staff LGI instructor). We will be offering a CPR class at cost for all Wolfies parents and families. Join us this month and help us make the world just a little bit safer, one CPR class at a time.
For the month of August, we are spotlighting children’s nutrition and health by partnering with Whole Foods. We will be doing a special nutrition class at the end of the month to help bring awareness.
This month we are having our first every blood drive, in honor of one of our previous students, George. George was diagnosed with childhood leukemia, a blood cancer. We are partnering with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. Did you know that although an estimated 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood at any given time, less than 10% of that eligible population actually do each year. Help us make a difference this month. Come out and donate!
Join us this month in striking our breast cancer in honor of Ms Lexi’s mother, Lisa Mitchell. She is true survivor in every sense of the word. We will be hosting a bowl-a-thon at Palace Lanes, who will be donating 100% of the proceeds to the Susan G Komen Foundation.
For the month of May, Wolfies will be partnering with Ronald McDonald House in the Texas Medical Center. We will be collecting capes and dress up costumes, and tutus for the children staying at the House to enjoy during their time at RMDH.
This month’s give back hits particularly close to home. One of Mr Tonys’ students, Lucy, was recently diagnosed with a form of childhood leukemia. In honor of Lucy and her fight, Wolfies will be hosting a bake sale for the month of April. All proceeds will be donated to St Jude’s in Lucy’s honor.
This month Mr Brian and Wolfies are spotlighting infant nutrition. For the month of March we will be having a bottle and formula drive for the Star of Hope. All donations will are much appreciated.
Since February is Heart Month, we are bringing awareness to heart disease and partnering with the American Heart Association. This month Wolfies will be hosting our first annual swim-a-thon to raise money for heart disease. All proceeds raised will go to the American Heart Association.
This month we are partnering with Teen Challenge of Texas. This amazing program helps teens and young adults with substance abuse problems, assists them in becoming the best that they can be. We are collecting items that can be sold in their resale shop to help fund the organization. Join us this month in helping Wolfies make a difference.
